On 3 June 2002, Slimane was offered with the "International Designer of the Year" award by the CFDA. Slimane used this principle in the development of his 1st Dior Homme collection. In 2001, the Dior Homme boutique on 30 Avenue Montaigne reopened with a new "contemporary masculine idea" instilled by its designer Hedi Slimane. Historically, 30 Avenue Montaigne is the spot the place Christian Dior showcased his first collection.
