The most widespread tree indigenous to Iceland is the northern birch (Betula pubescens), which formerly shaped forests above substantially of Iceland, together with aspens (Populus tremula), rowans (Sorbus aucuparia), popular junipers (Juniperus communis), and other smaller sized trees, largely willows.
