Kathmandu Valley is residence to the Newars, a significant ethnic team in Nepal. On May 19, 2006, the federal government confronted a constitutional disaster, the House of Representatives which had been just reformed, owning been formerly dissolved, declared Nepal a "secular state". The negotiated end to this war forced King Gyanendra to abdicate in 2008.
