In April 1998, the Council of Europe established a deadline for compliance of 29 May 1998 and on 21 May 1998, the House of Representatives voted 36 to eight in favour legalising homosexual acts. Neither the European Union nor the Council of Europe have suggested any specific age of consent, and there has not been any hard work so far to standardize the age throughout member states. The Section was later on repealed on 14 August 2002.
