Another of the series' normal characters, Edward Colanderhands, seems in a person episode as a member of The Cure's viewers. An early "pop society" reference to The Cure is observed in the eleventh episode of BBC2's anarchic alternative comedy collection The Young Ones, from 1984. The series showcased frequent cameo performances from British rock and pop groups of the period, these as Motörhead, the Damned, and Madness.
Earlier versions of the music had now been recorded by the band, but Plati and Smith entirely reconstructed the keep track of, designed around a sampled drum loop by Cure drummer Jason Cooper. Elsewhere, Smith said that the Stranglers were being his favourite punk band and that Costello "was a slash higher than the full good deal of them" in conditions of lyrics and track crafting.
