In 1981, when participating in in the United States, Best stole dollars from the purse of a female he did not know in buy to fund a drinking session. He was successfully defended when the circumstance achieved court in January 1973 by barrister George Carman QC, a shut consuming companion of Best, as acknowledged in his e book, Scoring at Half Time. The controversy was reignited in 2003 when he was spotted overtly drinking white wine spritzers.
