Portland's downtown options two teams of contiguous metropolis blocks committed for park space: the North and South Park Blocks. The 37-acre (15 ha) Tom McCall Waterfront Park was created in 1974 along the size of the downtown waterfront right after Harbor Drive was taken out it now hosts huge gatherings through the year.
