In 2020 manga product sales topped the ¥600 billion mark for the 1st time in history, beating the 1995 peak thanks to a rapid progress of the digital manga marketplace which rose by ¥82.7 billion from a previous year, surpassing print manga income which have also enhanced. As of January 2020 manga is the second premier category in the US comic e book and graphic novel current market, accounting for 27% of the complete market share.
