In the e book, Cohen describes the response among the the British general public to the seaside rivalry among the "mod" and "rocker" youth subcultures of the 1960s and nineteen seventies. In a moral worry, Cohen says, "the untypical is manufactured regular". Setting out to check his hypotheses on mods and rockers, Cohen found out a sample of construction and response with bigger foothold than mods and rockers - the ethical stress.
