After World War II, a common strike compelled King Leopold III to abdicate in 1951 in favour of his son, Prince Baudouin, given that a lot of Belgians felt he experienced collaborated with Germany in the course of the war. Germany invaded Belgium in August 1914 as part of the Schlieffen Plan to attack France, and a great deal of the Western Front battling of World War I transpired in western pieces of the region.
