Subjects know full nicely it is really an illusion and we see no evidence of men and women receiving trapped in them, but it's apparently very therapeutic. The concept of Solipsism is that the only factor that is serious is "the brain" (which is to say, the individual reading this) and that "the brain" established the universe as an illusion to guard itself from the horror of the void.
