When historian John Fiske arrived up with the name "The Golden Age of Piracy" in 1897, he defined it as long lasting 70 years, spanning the period amongst 1650 and 1720. Between 1909 and the 1990s, the development for defining the age was a person in the direction of narrowing its scope, with some defining it as lasing only 10 decades or even a lot less.
