A raid on a summer months lodge in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, called "Little Bohemia," still left a Bureau agent and a civilian bystander dead and others wounded all the gangsters escaped. The gangsters savored a level of sympathy in the Midwest, as banks and bankers ended up commonly witnessed as oppressors of popular men and women throughout the Great Depression.
