Among the nobility have been leaders named "Datus", responsible for ruling autonomous teams called "barangay" or "dulohan". The early polities were being ordinarily built up of 3-tier social buildings: a nobility course, a course of "freemen", and a class of dependent debtor-bondsmen. Some polities experienced exchanges with other states across Asia.
