Mary Anderson visited New York City in the winter season of 1902, in a trolley car on a frosty day. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Mary Anderson her 1st patent for an automatic automobile window cleaning system managed from inside of the car or truck, known as the windshield wiper in November 1903. Her patent was legitimate for 17 years.
