This prototype, designed on a shell of an additional digital truth headset, was only capable of rotational monitoring. In early 2014, Valve confirmed off their SteamSight prototype, the precursor to the two client headsets released in 2016. It shared important capabilities with the client headsets together with independent 1K displays for each eye, small persistence, positional monitoring more than a large space, and fresnel lenses.
