Originally the name of a village of the Piscataway tribe on the Anacostia River. Potomac - at first named Marysville immediately after the wives of the two founders, John Smith and Isaac Meneley, who commenced organizations listed here circa 1840. On May 13, 1871, a write-up business office was set up at the town and was named Potomac, most most likely following the Potomac River. Holly inevitably befriends the other wives.
