With the rise of eugenics in the latter aspect of the nineteenth century, these deviations had been seen as dangerous to the wellbeing of full populations. With disability seen as element of a person's biological make-up and as a result their genetic inheritance, researchers turned their awareness to notions of weeding such as "deviations" out of the gene pool.
