The connections and response attributes of cells in DM/ V6 suggest that this location is a critical node in a subset of the "dorsal stream", referred to by some as the "dorsomedial pathway". The very first scientific tests of the electrophysiological properties of neurons in MT confirmed that a massive part of the cells are tuned to the velocity and path of relocating visible stimuli.
