The prologue to The Butchers shows that as a boy, Simon witnessed the murder of his mom at the hand of his father. Much later he arrived at the scene of his father's bloody murder times soon after his father expired, which (in addition to the deaths of his girlfriend and two most effective close friends that happened close to the exact time) prompted a sharp and unique transform in his personality.
