The travesty was possibly not new to Chaucer’s audience. The inspiration for the novel was the time Kafka used in the audience of Yiddish theatre the preceding year, bringing him to a new awareness of his heritage, which led to the believed that an innate appreciation for one's heritage life deep inside just about every individual.
