This was a work undertaken in honour of Julius Caesar and assigned for his burial, and on the best of it are a few large gilt apples in which is the dust of the Emperor Julius Caesar, and surely it is a noble edifice and marvellously purchased and pretty weird. This bias was perhaps the outcome of strain from Emperor Charles V, Catherine's nephew, but it is not obvious how considerably this motivated possibly Campeggio or the Pope.
