From the beginning it has been devoted to making a new working method that is, by structure, incompatible with all the other folks (however, as we shall see, it is suitable with Unix in some really critical ways). Speaking of which, Microsoft tackled the similar difficulty in a noticeably more orderly way by building a new OS termed Windows NT, which is explicitly supposed to be a direct competitor of Unix.
