Despite the harshness of these laws, genuine punishments were being generally much less intense: in late Medieval Europe, scenarios about rapes of marriageable women, wives, widows, or customers of the decreased class ended up almost never introduced forward, and commonly ended with only a smaller financial fantastic or a relationship between the target and the rapist.
