Nicole Riegel’s gritty drama follows a vivid but down-and-out Rust Belt teenager (Jessica Barden) dwelling on the margins with her brother whilst their addict mother does a stint in jail. Not even a voice functionality from Rose Byrne as Mother can bust by the thicket of boredom for all we know, her contribution could have been virtually phoned in.
