The Johnson administration tried to mediate the conflict, but communicated through Fortas and many others that it would not oppose Israeli armed service motion. Accepted into Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT), he unsuccessful to total the training course, but subsequently applied for and was recognized into Undergraduate Navigator Training (UNT) at Mather Air Force Base, California in July 1969.
