The very first Africans to arrive at the colonies that England was having difficulties to set up ended up a group of some twenty enslaved folks who arrived at Point Comfort, Virginia, in close proximity to Jamestown, in August 1619, introduced by British privateers who had seized them from a captured Portuguese slave ship.
