Because of this, at the beginning of the sequence, he is unaware of most social norms and can scarcely tell two people aside even if they glimpse absolutely nothing like every other. Due to this, social expertise are totally alien to him (i.e licking a person's hand though performing a handshake), and in general comes throughout as socially awkward.
