In 2013 Freedom Communications, proprietor of the Orange County Register, released a 5-working day everyday newspaper, the Long Beach Register, aimed at competing with the Press-Telegram. The Press-Telegram is owned by Digital First Media and is component of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which has various newspapers in the Southern California region which share methods and reporters.
