In their opening remarks, John Battelle and Tim O'Reilly outlined their definition of the "Web as Platform", exactly where computer software apps are created upon the Web as opposed to upon the desktop. Control around criteria for exhibiting articles and apps in the browser would, in theory, give Netscape the variety of industry electricity enjoyed by Microsoft in the Pc market.
