The development of the ESRB was formally introduced to Congress on July 29, 1994. The ESRB was officially released on September 16, 1994 its system consisted of 5 age-primarily based rankings "Early Childhood", "Kids to Adults" (later on renamed "Everyone" in 1998), "Teen", "Mature", and "Adults Only".
