In response, the Rhodes Trust introduced two statements, one particular to The Sunday Times saying that "the criticisms…are unrepresentative of the large vast majority of Americans" studying at Oxford, and a different as a reply to the original op-ed arguing that "fake anticipations," notably for individuals unsure about their diploma choice, and likely to Oxford for the "wrong factors," could lead to dissatisfaction.
