This track has a mild, insistent melody and a veneer of sophistication larger than even the rest of this advanced document. We can listen to the beginnings of the loss of subtlety and sophistication that will mar so a lot of Jackson’s afterwards work. This feels to me to be the most entire-bodied and textured case in point of Jackson’s later function.
