The fantasy does not sustain with Marion, who dies hopelessly in her home at the Bates Motel. Norman displays stuffed birds that are "frozen in time" and retains childhood toys and stuffed animals in his area. The stuffed birds' shadows loom over Marion as she eats, and Norman's mother is witnessed in only shadows until the end. The motel area has shots of birds on the wall.
