Smith and Williamson experimented with motion continuity and ended up probably the first to integrate the use of inserts and close-ups among photographs. Oddly performing extras populate the backgrounds of tracking pictures and rubbish vehicles loaded with strange dust fluff (which we ultimately find out spreads the spores) exist at the fringes of the monitor. He wanted them replicated as authentically as doable on display screen.
