In the late nineteen eighties, Mario Kassar of Carolco Pictures secured the legal rights to the sequel, enabling Cameron to commence creation of the film, Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). Written by William Wisher Jr. and himself, Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprise their roles. He convinced the president of Hemdale Pictures to make the movie, with Cameron as director and Hurd as a producer.
