Lisinopril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke or death from heart attack in people who have heart attacks or heart blood flow problems. Lisinopril is a member of the ACE inhibitor class of medications. ACE stands for angiotensin-converting enzyme, which helps your body get rid of excess salt and water.
