In November 2006, the National Film Board of Canada and the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation declared the begin of the Nunavut Animation Lab, offering animation coaching to Nunavut artists. At the time of the Al Jazeera Media Network launch, Arabsat was the only satellite broadcasting to the Middle East, and for the initially 12 months could only supply Al Jazeera a weak C-band transponder that wanted a massive satellite dish for reception.
