In the late nineteen eighties, Mario Kassar of Carolco Pictures secured the legal rights to the sequel, allowing Cameron to begin output of the movie, Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). Written by William Wisher Jr. and himself, Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprise their roles. He persuaded the president of Hemdale Pictures to make the film, with Cameron as director and Hurd as a producer.
