The titular "brood" are a deformed band of what seem like dwarf-like youngsters, created not by mad science but new-age psychobabble-a lady turns her latent anger, panic and psychological sickness into a bodily item, which will become a collection of small, psychically joined killer dwarves who are despatched out to damage these who induced her grief.
