In 1981, Murdoch purchased The Times, his 1st British broadsheet, and, in 1985, grew to become a naturalized US citizen, providing up his Australian citizenship, to satisfy the lawful prerequisite for US tv network possession. Ownership of The Times came to him through his connection with Lord Thomson, who had grown exhausted of getting rid of dollars on it as a consequence of an extended time period of industrial motion that stopped publication.
