It did get much better as it went alongside, with extended and far more nuanced story arcs, but Sorkin could not dig himself out a gap that deep. What’s primarily irksome about The Newsroom is that Sorkin gave himself the advantage of hindsight, permitting his hero/mouthpiece, anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels), to rereport information events and get ideal what real-life journalists bought mistaken.
