Amy can both be a Distaff Counterpart to Sheldon, or Closer to Earth like Bernadette and Leonard. Amy and Sheldon tried using to do a social experiment to see which bits of juicy gossip would be handed a lot quicker all over their circle of friends. Sheldon was intended to be this for Leonard in the pilot, but grew to become a Breakout Character and was delegated to Butt-Monkey as an alternative.
