In April 1998, the Council of Europe set a deadline for compliance of 29 May 1998 and on 21 May 1998, the House of Representatives voted 36 to eight in favour legalising homosexual functions. Neither the European Union nor the Council of Europe have proposed any particular age of consent, and there has not been any work so significantly to standardize the age across member states. The Section was later repealed on fourteen August 2002.
