Epic announced in May 2020 along with its expose of the future Unreal Engine 5 that ports of Fortnite for the PlayStation five and Xbox Series X are prepared to be offered at the time of consoles' releases in late 2020. These will in the beginning run on Unreal Engine 4, but the activity is envisioned to changeover to Unreal Engine five by mid-2021 when the motor is released.
