The 1908 Selig Polyscope Company production of The Count of Monte Cristo directed by Francis Boggs and starring Hobart Bosworth was claimed as the 1st to have been filmed in Los Angeles, in 1907, with a plaque remaining unveiled by the town in 1957 at Dearden's flagship retail outlet on the corner of Main Street and 7th Street, to mark the filming on the internet site when it had been a Chinese laundry.
