Fisher was beatified by Pope Leo XIII with Thomas More and fifty two other English Martyrs on 29 December 1886. In the Decree of Beatification, the biggest place was supplied to Fisher. He was canonised, with Thomas More, on 19 May 1935 by Pope Pius XI, soon after the presentation of a petition by English Catholics.
