Called out by xkcd in "Isolation", pointing out that men and women have been expressing that media isolates people from the world since the 1840s if not previously. There is a nicely-known Russian text known as The letter of Father Seraphimius, the place the titular priest tries to understand contemporary know-how used by his males (written in an exaggeratedly archaic language analogous to Flowery Elizabethan English).
