It is time for us to open up our hearts, our minds, and our churches to the stories of survivors, to share with them the hope of God’s grace that is with us in our times of deepest despair, and can in time carry hope. But across all the barriers of history and tradition and shame, we can pay attention to Tamar. Jesus arrives from a background that is quite, quite messy. This moment in background is ours to steward.
