Several instructional and exploration establishments and medical centers close to the Curie name, including the Curie Institute and Pierre and Marie Curie University, later renamed UPMC. Marie Curie died on July 4, 1934, due to aplastic anemia, a unusual disorder in which the bone marrow and the hematopoietic stem cells that reside there are damaged.
